2nd Foundation Educational Supervisor Networking Day

Due to excellent feedback from the first event in March 2023, the Foundation Team & UHL DME are pleased to announce the ‘2nd Foundation Educational Supervisor Networking Day‘ for the East Midlands ESs with first preference for UHL Foundation Educational Supervisors. The intent of the day remains an opportunity for Foundation ESs to network, exchange ideas, update their knowledge of the Foundation Curriculum and approach Group Scenarios with a standardised feel along with the Foundation TPDs.
The day will allow discussion on themes that are common to most ESs with challenges in supporting PGDiTs, with Educational Training lectures on multiple pertinent topics from Mr Mark McCarthy, Director of Medical Education, Dr Dilesh Lakhani, Deputy Director of Medical Education, Rachel Parry Head of Foundation School, Dr Kath Higgins and Prof Winston Rennie.
Apart from this, in keeping with the theme of Trainer-wellbeing and ‘Physican heal thyself’ ; we will have a Wellbeing Masterclass – Cultivating Healthy Resilience :5 Evidence based Tips & Micro-practices for Burnout prevention &Wellness Lectures, led by Professor David Fessell.
Dr Fessell, is a Faculty Associate at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, a certified executive coach, and a recently retired Professor of Radiology from the University of Michigan, U.S.A.
He publishes and speaks on wellness, resiliency, and the transformative power of humour. His articles have been featured in Harvard Business Review, Psychology Today, JAMA, and numerous medical journals.
As an insight into negotiating skills utilised outside the medical field, Leicestershire Police Senior Negotiator, Mr William Knopp will deliver an interactive lecture on –The Art of Negotiation.

The event will be free to University Hospitals of Leicester Foundation Educational Supervisors (please apply for study leave early) though a fee of £75.00 will be charged for non-attendance.
Application’s from UHL staff will close at 12 Noon on the 15th September 2023 after which the event will be open to regional ESs (Trent, Northampton etc).
