Overview
Build on skills learned in the Foundation Programme to help either prepare for a career or to encourage an interest in anaesthesia. This hands-on course will develop your sense of the technical skills required for a career in anaesthesia and allow you to connect with anaesthetic doctors of all grades. Want to learn some fun new skills to improve your clinical practice? Got any questions to ask about a career in anaesthesia? Come along and achieve both goals.

Aims
- Build upon previous skills learned during the Foundation Programme to a higher degree.
- Develop exposure to the techniques and skills used in anaesthesia.
- Understand more about the breadth of a career in anaesthesia.
Objectives
- You will engage in various hands-on workshops to improve familiarity with skills including: Laryngoscopy & Video/Fibreoptic skills, Airway Simulation/eFONA, CVC & Ultrasound-guided Cannulation, Ventilators, Perioperative Medicine, Chest Drain insertion, Central Neuraxial & Regional Anaesthesia.
- You will meet with anaesthetists of all grades from CT1 to Consultant. You will have the opportunity to discuss what a career in anaesthesia looks like.

Duration: 1 day
Schedule: The day starts with a lecture from our consultants then will follow 4 hands on skill rotations

FAQ
Where can I park and what are the fees?
When attending a course you will need to park in the patient car park. The LGH site operates on a pay-and-display system, so upon arrival, you must purchase a ticket for the appropriate duration and display it in the front window of your vehicle. An ATM and coin machine are available at the main reception.
Car Park Charges
- Up to 1 hour, £1.70
- 1 to 2 hours, £2.90
- 2 to 3 hours, £3.40
- 3 to 4 hours, £4.50
- 4 to 8 hours, £6.70
- 8 to 12 hours, £11.30
- 12 to 24 hours, £13.30
- Motorbikes, Free
The car park office is open weekdays from 0800 until 1600 and is located near the main entrance. If you need assistance outside of these hours, please contact the Customer Service Centre on 0116 204 7888.

How many days is the course & what are the timings?
The course is for 1 full day, the day will run from 09:00 – 16:30
How do I access my certificate?
Within two weeks of the course finishing, you will receive a link to the post-course online evaluation. You then have 30 days to complete the evaluation. Your certificate will be available to download from the RCS England website within 24 hours of completing the evaluation.
What is the dress code for the course?
There is no dress code, scrubs are not required. Please wear clothing that you will be comfortable in.
