Congratulations to all the winners of the 2022 Medical Educator Awards! The awards which is in its fifth year, recognises and celebrates the excellence of clinical educators. The awards were presented by Andrew Furlong, Medical Director at the Clinical Education Showcase in December. There were nine categories, with the winners being nominated by colleagues across the Trust and voted by postgraduate doctors and consultants.

Consultant Awards
Role Model Award
Congratulations to Kirsten Boyle, the winner of the Role Model (Senior) Award! Kirsten’s nominator said, “A great role model and an educator who has supported beyond what I thought were possible.”
Most Supportive UHL Supervisor
Congratulations to Hala Sharaf, the winner of the Most Supportive UHL Supervisor Award! Hala was nominated by 12 people, one of which said “[she is] keen for us all to develop and reach our potential and is innovative in her approach to this.”
Outstanding contribution to teaching
Congratulations to James Veater, the winner of the Outstanding contribution to teaching Award! James’ nominator said “He has worked tirelessly producing fantastic, animated presentations explaining complex concepts in microbiology”
Post Graduate Doctors in Training Awards
Role Model (junior award)
Congratulations to Fasi Khan, the winner of the Role Model (Junior) Award! Fasi’s nominator said, “The reason as to why I am nominating him for this award…is…the passion that he has for his job and his patients.”
Rising star/most promising teacher
Congratulations to Farhana Patel, the winner of the Rising Star Award! Farhana’s nominator said, “[She] has gone above and beyond to provide teaching opportunities for students both inside her working hours and in her own time.”
Outstanding Contribution to Teaching
Congratulations to Heena Chotai, the winner of the Outstanding Contribution to Teaching Award! Heena’s nominator said, “She is also a strong advocate for trainee wellbeing…She has inspired others to be the best version of themselves”

Congratulations to Liz Hodson, the winner of the Education Support Award! Liz’s nominator said, “She goes above and beyond to teach, make echo less challenging especially for junior trainees, and I do believe her exemplary efforts deserve recognition.”
Education Team
